The backrest has only four wide planks but still looks durable and efficient. The seats are huge and are moderately sloped at the back. The armrests are huge and could be used as a table and the seat is slightly higher from the ground compared to other traditional Adirondack chair designs. .
The back curvatures of the Adirondack chairs can vary from one type to another. Most of them come with their backs in a reclined position.
Soon after Lee finalized the design of his Westport chair, he met up with his hunting friend Harry Bunnell, who owned a carpentry shop in the town. Bunnell was worried about the upcoming winter because of a lack of resources that year, so to help him out, Lee gave him the chair's design.
Care & MaintenanceThe Eucalyptus should be oiled with naturally refined linseed oil, or teak and hardwood oil 2-3 times per year to maintain the look and preserve the finish. If the product becomes soiled or dirty, use a mild detergent and a soft cloth or soft brush for cleaning. Do not use abrasive cleaners or products.
Now install the back slats. To get the right look, proper spacing of the slats is important. Start with the center slat, placing it dead center in the back. I used four screws for each back slat, inserting one in the bottom, then made sure the top was positioned properly, then I secured it with three more. Be careful drilling the screw holes and countersink for the upper crosspiece as these must be done on an angle, drilling straight into the crosspiece, but at an angle to the back slat.
This furniture lives outdoors, so there’s no moving it. Leave your outdoor furniture on the deck, on the lawn or around the pool so you can sit outside on any day to enjoy the sunshine. Heavy enough so it won’t blow away!
I am most certainly not a big enthusiast of art but I cannot help myself but admire these lovely chairs. It is good that you decided to take a picture with one of them, else I might mistake them for a miniature which usually comes in dollhouses, don t you think?

Next the two front legs are attached using three, 1⁄4” by 2″-long carriage bolts. Clamp the legs in position before drilling. The correct position is 113⁄4” from the bottom of the leg to the bottom of the front crosspiece.
