hbiz.co.za scam or not?

Is hbiz.co.za a scam?

The questions has been asked a couple of times by some of my readers. I also saw on another blog and in the forum of a friend of mine that there are concerns about this “business”

I checked it out.

I will not give you the direct link to the site but you can find it at hbiz.co.za which I presume stands for “home business”

The web site offers you a solution for working from home. It claims that you can earn R24,000 after 6 months if you just follow the steps.

At first I wanted to buy the packages like I often do in order to evaluate it. But after spending 30 seconds on this web site I decided that it would be a good R250 wasted. (Or R270 on another page of the site)

It seems as if all they do is sell you a package filled with “Data processing”, “get paid to read emails” and “money from surveys information. The package also contain a whole of of free eBooks which you can get with full resell rights.

Most data processing, surveys and email reading programs are a rip off, some of them like data processing are illegal to advertise in South Africa. You can do a search for “Gazette 29823″ or read it here

At the data entry package I saw this notice on the page where they describe how you will be making money.

You will need a PayPal username to register at PayDotCom. You do not have to register at PayPal as you will have to use our USA based PayPal account. The reason for this is that South African based PayPal accounts can not receive money. The PayPal username you must use is homebizgroup@hbiz.co.za

All your earnings on PayDotCom will be paid to our USA based PayPal account. All you need to do is to email us proof of your earnings on PayDotCom to get paid. Once we have confirmed the payment in our US based PayPal account we will pay the full amount into your South African bank account. NO FEES WILL BE DEDUCTED!

This is quite something. So you will place all the ads and hbiz will get paid for it. It is true that SA based PayPal accounts cannot receive money, but nothing stops the person who signs up to select the “cheque” option at PayDotCom. I have been receiving and depositing US Dollar checques for the past 9 years without problems.

Another concern is that they say “NO FEES WILL BE DEDUCTED!”.  Now PayPal takes 3.4% + $0.30 USD per transaction and PayDotCom takes between $1 and $3 per transaction. So if Hbiz receives all these payments and are willing to pay you the full amount without deducting any fees they are either making a loss or do not pay everybody who makes money.

On the Womenatwork.co.za forum it was said that:

They offer supposedly legitimate work at home jobs that you have to pay R270 upfront for for the package, but if you buy it and you realise that you have been had, try and contact them and you never hear from them again. The jobs they offer are supposedly: typing, filling of envelopes, admin work, data entry, surveys etc. Most of what they offer have been made illegal to advertise as legitimate jobs and one can get fined huge amounts of money for contravening this law, but these people are still surviving.

My recommendation to you is to treat this one with gloves. We had more negative reports than positive ones and especially when “Data Processing” is involved it should be a warning signal.

Unless of course if the owner of  hbiz can convince me otherwise. Until that time it will remain a “NO-NO” for now.

If you had any experience with Hbiz, please share it in the “comments” section below.

    Hi

I have also been part of the Hbiz program for awhile now and have not made money yet. I bought the Survey Estate package for R200 only to find out that I must sell it and then I only earn R40 commission.

I did however stumble upon an online marketing program that is very cheap to join and has a very high payout, it is perfect for people who wants to make money from home.

I have also been part of the hbiz group for awhile now and also have not made money, I ordered the survey estate package for R200 to only find out that I should resell it to make money, and then I only get R40 in return.

I did however stumble across an online networking company in South-Africa that has a very high pay out rate and is very cheap to join.

About the Homebiz Group: Their marketing material (website & other)is an excellent example of misrepresentation. What they are actually promoting is affiliate marketing which is a “science” all on it’s own. This is NOT data capturing. Be warned, if there was a top 10 list of scams in SA available, HomeBiz would top the charts!

I have seen many posts on other blogs & forums where people were caught – HomeBiz does not even honor their Money Back Guarantee.

Affiliate marketing, when done the proper way, DOES work big time (it took me a lot of time, money and effort to learn the ropes). Wow, but really there’s much more to it than trying to waste time and money on these free directories you post on.

I am very VERY upset!! All i wanted to do was earn an income to help support my lady! What is it with South Africans, that we’ve all got to be as rotten as the “govmunt?”

  10. Eben says:

I got asked to look into this hbiz for my mother as they need an extra income. I’m in forensic fraud investigations and just reading the sales papers they sent my mom I got suspicious and thought this might be a scam and bordering illegal. Turns out my gut feeling was right.

      hi is hbiz a scam

      • Pieter says:

Christjan I really do not know, that is why I wrote the post so others can give us their opinions. There are many people who complain that they nether got paid and that hbiz nether return their calls. So far I saw one person who reported that she did what they told her to do and she received her money.

What I do not like about them is that they mislead you by saying you will get a “job”. All they do is show you how to place affiliate links on free ad web sites and earn commission on successful sales. That you can do by yourself without paying them the fee.

There are many complaints about it being a scam, and so far one person who said she got paid.

          Hi Pieter

Carte Blanche is featuring a story on these scams this Sunday the 16th of May I think, I have seen part of the previews for future stories and might be this Sunday.

I hope everyone can get some answers as I am sure they have been digging deep into these companies to find out the truth

If this does not expose people and warn others if does turn out to be one.

if they cant get answers then who else will be able too..

good luck to all looking for that honest income and not having to be part of scam to scam others.

    Hi Pieter

Thank you for warning people about internet scams. I unfotunately decided to check up on Dataworx/hbiz after I deposited my money into their bank account today. It now appears they are a scam from what I have read.
How come they have not been closed down?

    Many thanks. Wendy

i almost spent money on hbiz toady.thank you for saving me. i guess when something seems to good to be true,it probably is.however,i do want to know why they get away with this crime.especialy for nearly 10 years.why don’t they get caught?

      • Pieter says:

        “why don’t they get caught?”
Because of the inefficiency of our government organizations. I previously reported two even worse companies who committed bigger crimes to the DTi and they nether lifted a finger. I think they are just there to get a salary, not to do a job. They just pretend to be there to protect the industry.

        • gerrit says:

          Pieter hi
this is out of the mouth of data worx from Potch
so now every 1 can see.
basic if your ads do not sell the pruduks u will not get the ” BIG $$” U GOT MY EMAIL if u got tips

Please find a short description of how dataworx works:

For the once of Fee of R270-00 you will receive both part one and part two.

For the online part of Dataworx you are basically going to have to register with paydotcom, and then you are going to promote products at paydotcom. Paydotcom has thousands of products, you do not have to buy the products to promote them you can just click on promote, then paydotcom is going to supply you with a unique link which you will have to advertise on free advertising sites. You then get paid commission once a product you promoted is sold from your unique link you advertised. Thus you will have to promote as many products as you can and advertise the link on as many free advertising sites as you can.

For the online part you also have the option to join the Vip Members for an additional cost of R59-00 a month. As a VIP member you will have access to more products that the normal Dataentry member.
Please note that this is an additional option you do not need to do this to be a Dataentry member.

If you still have some more questions you are welcome to contact us on 0182933439 or 0798793539.

Well basically for the part you complete by hand you will have to place an advertisement in a newspaper to generate names and addresses, then you write them on a data entry sheet and send it to us along with proof of advertisement. You then get paid 0.75 cents per name and address, we then send the names and addresses an order form containing your reference number and if they join with dataworx and we see it is your reference number on the order form you get paid 20% commission of the money they pay us.

          Regards
          The Homebiz Group
